For years, our schools have offered children a nurturing Montessori environment rooted in curiosity, independence, and a deep connection to nature. Founded by Melinda Gillen with the opening of Quail Hollow Montessori in 2005, and later expanded with Little Acorns Montessori in 2014, both schools were created from a shared vision: to honor each child’s unique development through authentic Montessori education. Together, they cultivate caring learning communities grounded in respect, exploration, and a lasting appreciation for the natural world.
As of May 1, 2026, the schools entered a new chapter under the ownership of Brittanie Morris, who has worked alongside Mindy since 2008. With nearly two decades of experience within the schools’ community, Brittanie is committed to preserving the heart of the programs while continuing to grow their mission of holistic, scientific, and nature-based early childhood education.
At our schools, children are encouraged to learn through hands-on exploration, meaningful relationships, and connection with the natural world. We believe childhood should be filled with wonder, movement, discovery, and respect for each child’s individual path of development.

Little Acorns Montessori
Located in the heart of Live Oak in Santa Cruz, Little Acorns is set on a beautiful property surrounded by apple, pear, and walnut trees. The warm, welcoming environment reflects the school’s commitment to cultivating independence, creativity, and joyful learning.
